External panoramic lift for the Regional State Administration, Chernivtsi

The building houses the Regional State Administration and the Regional Council. The client wanted each of the four floors to be reachable in a wheelchair, with a pushchair or simply without using the stairs. The main facade was not touched at all: the shaft was built on the courtyard side as a separate structure that places no load on the old walls and is fixed to the facade only at individual points.

The shaft stands on bored cast-in-place piles up to 630 mm in diameter; every borehole was inspected together with the technical supervisor before concreting. Under the car there is a waterproofed pit. The dark steel frame is fully glazed from a low plinth up to the roof, so the car can be seen from the courtyard, and the courtyard and the opposite facade can be seen from the car. On the second, third and fourth floors the lift exits were made where windows used to be: the glazed frames were removed and kept, only the wall below the sill was taken down, and niches were formed alongside for the heating radiators.

The lift is an Izamet panoramic model: 630 kg, 1.0 m/s, four stops, a car glazed on three sides and doors set in a stainless steel portal. Before handover the lift went through commissioning and testing to DSTU EN 81-20: safety gear, overspeed governor, buffers, brake, stopping accuracy and dynamic tests at rated load. The work was carried out under two contracts, both publicly available in the Prozorro register.
