HAS did not start with lifts. In 1980 Sebahaddin Şekerci set up production of rubber and plastic products, and only in spring 1987 did the first lift product appear - rubber buffers. Cars followed, then semi-automatic doors, and with them controllers and hydraulic systems. Door output grew from two hundred units a month to several thousand. The company came into lift manufacturing from the bottom up, starting with components.
It still shows today. Production is built around sheet metal processing: a CNC laser cutter, a stamping press, robotic shears, a CNC bending machine and a robotic painting line. The consequence for the client is simple: a car of non-standard size is not a problem here, as panels are cut for the specific shaft. When you measure an old shaft where every floor is off by a few centimetres, that flexibility matters more than a nice catalogue.
The factory car designs are finished in satin stainless steel or gloss panels, with mirror inserts, wooden panels, granite or PVC flooring, laser-cut ceilings and glass in stainless steel frames. The factory's list includes a controller with variable frequency control (VVVF) and an inspection control station on the car roof - things without which a modernization should not be accepted today.
One caveat. Turkish lifts are often assembled from mixed sources: the traction machine from one supplier, the controller from another, the doors from a third. That is not a flaw as long as everything is documented. We insist that the specification names the specific component manufacturers, and we do so before payment. Otherwise, a few years later, finding a service part becomes guesswork.
For residential buildings, offices, hotels and public buildings.
For warehouses, factories, shopping centres and kitchens.
For hospitals and medical centres: sized for stretchers and intensive care beds.
A glass car as an architectural feature of the building.
Almost everyone asks this. The answer depends not on the country but on the specific configuration. HAS manufactures its own cars, doors and controllers, so the components are designed to work together, and that is a plus. The risk lies elsewhere: in bought-in components, which can vary from batch to batch. That is why we agree the specification in detail and in writing.
Yes, and that is one of the reasons we choose HAS for modernization projects. The factory works on CNC machines, so panels and frames are made to measured dimensions. We take the actual shaft dimensions along its full height - in older buildings they do not match the design drawings - and send verified figures to the factory.
Common wear parts - guide shoes, rollers, contacts, door operator parts - are readily available. It is harder when the controller electronics need replacing: here it is important that the documents record exactly whose controller is installed in your lift. We record this when the lift is put into operation and keep it in the service file.
Yes, the company mastered hydraulic systems back when it was setting up production of doors and controllers. Hydraulics make sense for low travel and light traffic: the load is not transferred to the slab above the shaft, and the drive sits at the bottom. There are downsides too - higher power consumption when travelling up and sensitivity to oil temperature in a cold room.
What determines the choice of lift: building type, number of floors, rated load, drive type and whether there is a machine room. Practical guidelines and common mistakes.
